With California Construction Booming, Are Lawsuits Looming?

Construction employment in the state of California is predicted to rise by 5.6 percent this year and 6.3 percent in 2016, after 35,700 construction jobs were added in 2014. Already, shortages of skilled workers- such as equipment operators, carpenters, project managers and supervisors-are being reported.

With competition fierce for, and top dollars fetched by, experienced project managers and superintendents, many construction firms find themselves hiring young and inexperienced talent to run their projects. Without proper training on how to administer contracts, document changes and effectively communicate with project owners and subcontractors, however, even the most promising prospects could end up learning the tricks of the trade the hard way, in a deposition or in a court room.

Contact one of the experienced construction trial attorneys at Bowles & Verna, LLP today if you need assistance getting your project managers or superintendents ready for the big leagues. Bowles and Verna offers a number of free training seminars for project personnel covering best practices for all phases and aspects of a construction project.

Ms. Cwalina frequently speak on construction management issues and Bowles & Verna, LLP is a licensed CLE provider in the State of California.

Constructions firms are themselves to blame when they put inexperienced people at the helm of the project. As you rightly mentioned construction industry will continue to bloom well into 2016 and even beyond with our economy going great guns after a long time. Its time for construction firms to align with universities to launch skill development courses and even try to get talent from other countries.

Ronny, you speak the truth! I took a look at your website and you have a lot of great tools for the California contracting community.

Thanks for taking interest in our site.
